First day at school

Set aside a generous half-hour to cycle to school. Followed some school kids and ended up taking a turn too early. That doesn’t look like my school…so I asked this bewildered girl where my school is…she stared at me like I was an alien so I backtracked and managed to arrive in the correct school in time but very hot from all that cycling. I think I better get a car. Anyway, the teachers say that it will be impossible to cycle during winter. I can use the bike when its cooler.

Here’re some pics of my apartment:

As you enter, you can see the tatami bedroom on the left and living room on the right:

As you walk in, the kitchen is immediately on your right

And the bathroom and toilet are on your immediate left

After you flush, clean water will flow from the tap (with the rosebud decoration on it) unto the little sink before refilling the cistern, so you can use the water to wash your hands. Isn't that a great idea for saving water?

And as you walk into the apartment, there're the living room and bedroom:

For dinner, I met up with Patrick, the other ALT (from UK) in my town, also teaching at my school. He arrived a week ago so he showed me the other shops in town. We did some grocery shopping first then went hunting for a place to eat. Finally settled on this sushi place which was quite nice and reasonably priced. Since the menu was in Japanese and neither of us had learnt enough Japanese to read much, the lady took down this huge poster of all the different sushis from the wall and started pointing to us what was included in each platter. (To those who are wondering, yes, I ate the raw sushi as well. It was inevitable I guess :) )

Check out what I found at the neighbourhood bakery:

Doraemon buns! Aren't they cute?

YAY! Baggage company found my missing bag and will be delivering it tomorrow!
