Typhoon No. 14

Typhoon No. 14 that battered Kyushu (southern Japan) in the last few days is headed my way! It will supposedly arrive tonight. But the strong winds started blowing last night at about 1am. I was getting ready to sleep when suddenly "*BAM!* my bathroom door slammed shut and my clothes drying rack got blown over without any warning at all. There was no build-up; the wind just suddenly blew in. When I rushed to shut the windows, the wind was so strong that I was wondering if there was a typhoon (I originally thought that the typhoon was headed towards Korea). It was quite scary. For the whole night I could hear the howling wind and the rustling from the rice fields. At times, the wind was so strong, causing the windows to vibrate so violently, that it felt like a train was going to crash through my windows anytime.

This morning, the winds were still strong so I didn't dare cycle. Plus there were angry black clouds looming overhead so it would be difficult to cycle back if it rains (I'm not good enough to carry an umbrella in one hand while cycling). It was difficult to walk to school though because of the wind, especially if it is blowing in the opposite direction. It hasn't started raining yet, but the winds have been blowing non-stop. Even as I sit in the air-conditioned comfort of the teachers' room now, I can hear the sound of the wind. It's completely different from what we get at home when there's a heavy thunderstorm and strong winds.

So tonight, I shall experience my first typhoon! I shall keep you all posted on how it is... :)
