Judged a speech contest

Heh...was one of the four "honourable" judges in the annual Niigata Prefectural Commercial High School Speech Contest. Commercial High School basically means that the students are not academically-inclined, i.e. very low-level.

The first student was soooo bad that I could not make out what she was saying without referring to her script. Thankfully, that was the worst student. Anyway, my initial excitement melted to sheer boredom as things started to get repetitive...oh, it was a pain having to it there and listen to one speech after another. My highlight of the day...a super-yummy bento lunch and free flow of chocolates, cookies and green tea for the judges. :)

Check out the length (or lack of it!) of Jap high school girls' skirts: (even during winter!)
