Yuzawa

We drove to Yuzawa, a major ski town about an hour away. We wanted to take a gondola ride to a mountain-top park where the view is supposed to be great. However, it was a cloudy day, so we scrapped that idea. We went for an outdoor onsen bath instead (like what you see in Japan Hour). That was fun! First of all, the water is not so hot because the cold surrounding air so you can soak in the onsen for a longer period of time. And, we could also admire the remaining autumn leaves and pretty bits of snow on the ground, rocks and trees while we soaked in the onsen. The male and female onsen is separated by a bamboo wall. Unfortunately, no photos of the onsen to share…sorry!

My dad and uncle playing a traditional shooting game. You win prizes based on the number of things you manage to hit. They won a keychain each. I think that’s like the consolation prize.

Yummy okonomiyaki dinner (Japanese pancake with cabbage, egg and other toppings, eg. prawns, octopus, chicken, etc, that you cook yourself. They even have cheese flavoured ones!)
