Worst snowfall in recent years

Towns at the Niigata-Nagano prefecture border have been cut off from the rest of Japan as the only national route was closed due to the heavy snowfall. The worst-hit town in Niigata, Tsunan, is only 1 hour drive from my town. It has accumulated more than 3.5m of snow on the streets. My town is slightly better, only just over 3m of snow.
