Himeji

Day trip to Himeji Castle, which is considered Japan's most spectacular castle. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, unlike many other Japanese castles, was never destroyed in wars, earthquakes, fires and survive in its original form.

The castle is big and houses a little shrine on the top floor.

After touring the castle, we went to Koko-en (a large garden next to the castle) for lunch. There's a little restaurant in the garden that specialises in conger eel (anago). You can enjoy your lunch in a tranquil setting overlooking the garden.
