Kanazawa

Kanazawa is famous for Kenrokuen, which is considered one of Japan's 3 most beautiful landscape garden. It is also on the way back to Niigata from Kyoto. The name Kenrokuen means that the garden possesses the 6 theoretical attributes that a perfect garden should have, such as water, spaciousness, etc. It is a pretty garden, with traditional teahouses overlooking ponds, and the plum blossoms were in full bloom while we were there.

A Japanese lady appeared and said that we were very lucky to see this bird.

Kenrokuen used to be the outer garden of the Kanazawa Castle. The ruins of the Castle.

Kanazawa is quite a cool city. Shopping is pretty good, many cafes and restaurants, and we had the best tan-tan men (ramen in spicy soup) ever there! We liked it so much that we went back on another night for dinner!
