Soba dinner and firefly-watching

Takahashi-sensei (the old PE teacher) took Patrick and I to a "big big" dinner. The place is an established soba restaurant done up in traditional Japanese setting. Each table is in a private room. There is a service bell in each room that you press when you need the waitress. The dinner was big alright. Each set comes with soba/udon AND katsu don/tendon/8 pcs of sushi/raw tuna on rice. Too much food!

Takahashi-sensei showing us how to grate the wasabi
The grooved texture on the grater is shark's skin

After dinner, he brought us to a forest to see fireflies (hotaru). It's apparently the firefly season. There were lots. Quite cool, little glowing green dots moving around. It's quite easy to catch them and they seem attracted to us for some reason. Many followed us into the car and it was hard getting them out when we were going to leave.

Close-up of firefly (The light is emitted at the end of their bodies, which is on my finger and appears slightly red. The other red part which is sticking from my finger is their head. Pity the glow doesn't appear in pics leh)
P.S. I will be joining the third-graders for their judo lessons beginning next week!
