Walk along Uono River

Since it was a fine day and my car was in the workshop to get the radiator changed, I decided to take a walk along the river in my town.
It's something that I've always wanted to do.

In summer, the river is a hub of activity. Men fish for Ayu (my town's speciality, a small but very sweet fish).

For some strange reason, they all use really long fishing poles.

Many of them wade into the river to fish. I sometimes see them chest-deep in water. It is shallow but the water is fast-flowing and the river bed is rocky.

The Ayu fish carved onto the cemented path.

Kids splash in the river to cool off while their mothers chat by the river bank.

Found this curious bat-shaped object with mirror eyes hanging by the river bank.

I like these little pink buds...they remind of the longevity peaches you see on Chinese fairy dramas.

Japanese lallang? (They're really tall, I was standing when I took this photo.)

The furry version (pre-wind dispersion)

Err...no, sorry...but next time I go down to the river, I'll ask to see their catch :)

There's actually a restaurant down by the river that has a ramp which allows you to walk into the river to fish. Then, you tell the restaurant the way you want your catch prepared.
