Farewell Carol

It is with great sadness that I announce the demise of my beloved Mazda Carol, my faithful and trusty driving companion for the last 1.5 years. Small with a cute round shape and a sports spoiler (although she clearly did not need one with her petite 660cc engine), she travelled with me many thousands of kilometres - around Niigata prefecture, to Nagano prefecture and even as far as to Nikko.

2 weeks ago, after 13 years of hard work, her health suddenly took a turn for the worse. Her speed slowed to an excruciatingly slow pace of 20km/h and even at that speed, her engine was roaring like a boeing 777 accompanied by a strange flapping noise. The tow truck came to get her and my car workshop declared yesterday that she was beyond repair. An engine overhaul would cost more than I paid for her. So I signed the papers to have her scrapped.

Farewell Carol, I'll never forget you, my first car...
