Kate, Katie and I went for another homestay at the Sekines'. We arrived in time for a somen lunch. It was my first time eating somen. Really good, I like the bouncy texture and light taste. Like soba, somen can be served cold. Perfect summer food!

Lovely view from the Sekines' house. Fields and fields of koshihikari rice and Hakkai-san in the background.
We made pizzas, buns and onigiri (rice balls) from scratch to prepare for the big BBQ dinner that night.
Starting the fire

The kids playing. Two are from the Sekine family and the other 2 are their neighbourhood friends.
While the adults are hard at work. (Like I said, it was a big big BBQ. The Sekines invited their friends over as well. Think there were about 20+ people.)
It was really fantastic! We set up tables on the Sekines' garden. Great view, delicious food and everyone drank themselves silly!
The kids played with fire sparklers
Then we drove into the mountains to see fireflies.
