鹿児島 Kagoshima Aquarium

One of the largest aquariums in Japan. Better than I expected. There were rather good displays of a wide variety of marine life and good English explanations.

One of the highlights is a baby whale shark (ジンベエザメ Jimbey-zame) that is reportedly 5m long (doesn't look that big to me though).

Dolphin show

At Dolphin Port for lunch before taking the car ferry to Sakurajima

桜島 Sakurajima

We stayed at the famous Furusato Kanko Hotel. Welcome tea in our room with a view of the sea.
Its call to fame is its seaside outdoor mixed bath with a shrine. As it is a holy place, bathers have to wear yukatas provided by the hotel.
Sleeping bath.
Waterfall bath (but not really since it was just a small pipe that the spring water flowed from).
13-course kaiseki dinner after bath.
Just the beginning - appetizers and sashimi. No time to take photos once dinner started...too busy trying to finish the food so that there is space on the table for the new dishes!
